We are constantly figuring out ways on how we best work as a team and productivity and morale can suffer when you're constantly being interrupted.

We are currently trialling meeting free Wednesdays. The goal is so you can find your state of flow and we can create space for deep work and intensive problem-solving.

Feel free to plan your day to best suit your working style, whether that's working in set blocks, having a longer break or creating set tasks that you want to complete.

Here are some helpful tips to get you started:

STEP 1

Prepare your workload for the day

Have a clear goal for the day. Plan to focus on one or two things at the most to help you get into your state of flow. Focus on the most urgent and important tasks first, and break them down into chunks that can be accomplished in one day or part of the day. Learn to prioritise and deprioritise work, it takes some disciple to learn to differentiate the high impact work.

STEP 2

Optimise your work environment

Grab everything you might need through the work session: water, caffeine, laptop charger, paper, markers, headphones, etc. Minimise the number of times you need to break your focus.

Create your own interruption-free zone by turning off notifications, alarms, reminders, phones and anything else that is not 100% required to carry out the work at hand.

Ideally, you won't have to attend emails, calls or team meetings. Feel free to turn off your phone and find a quiet place. Remember that your teammates are in the same situation so avoid any non-urgent interaction with them.

STEP 3

Get s%#t done

Enjoy your meeting free day!
